Texas Tech University announced the suspension of their head football coach, Mike Leach, after the family of Adam James filed a complaint with the university stating that their son was mistreated after sustaining a concussion (Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, December 29, 2009).

Adam James Diagnosed with Concussion

Adam James, sophomore wide receiver for Texas Tech University, sustained a concussion on December 16 and was diagnosed with a concussion on December 17. He was told not to practice at that time (Schad, J., “Leach Suspended after Player Complaint”, ESPN.com, December 29, 2009).

According to the Los Angeles Times’ article (December 29, 2009), the family filed the complaint with the university because “their son had been subjected to actions and treatment not consistent with common sense rules for safety and health.”
