If you asked some of his longtime, close friends, they would say that Eric Show was a caring person and a devoted friend. If you asked some of the people he alienated, they would say that Show was arrogant and self centered. Both sides would likely agree that he was a talented athlete and an accomplished jazz guitarist with a high IQ and genuine intellectual curiosity.

Show was the living, breathing antithesis of the stereotypical dumb jock. He was a voracious reader and inveterate museum visitor. He reveled in long, intellectual discussions. But, he also reveled in being dismissive and condescending to people who disagreed with his opinions.
